Sophia Rockwell
Research Assistant

Sophia Rockwell is a senior at the University of Notre Dame studying environmental science and global affairs. She is passionate about the intersection of research-driven science and policy, particularly regarding environmental justice, sustainable development and gender rights.
She is working with Dr. Marcantonio as part of the Kellogg Developing Researchers Program, where she also contributes to the program as a student leader. Through KDR, she has worked at the Notre Dame Law School as a manuscript editor focused on the history of the National Park Service and at the Kroc Institute as a researcher focused on transboundary water treaties.
Through her internship with the Environmental Peacebuilding Association, Sophia expanded her research experience through her contributions to a monitoring and evaluation project, a constitutions project on environmental provisions and communications for the Third International Conference on Environmental Peacebuilding at The Hague in June 2024.
Additionally, Sophia works with the Notre Dame men’s lacrosse team as a student manager and in the Gender Relations Center as a program assistant. In previous summers, she has worked in Zambia as part of Kellogg’s inaugural cohort in the Pre-Experiencing the World Fellowship and in Poland as part of the Nanovic Institute’s inaugural Lublin research program focused on the intersectionality of Jewish identity and Polish history.
